I think I can honestly say that 2015 has been the craziest year of my life. I feel like we ran a marathon all. year. long.
Let’s start at the beginning – we began 2015 by starting our 1902 Victorian renovations. The first few months were filled with demolition, wallpaper stripping, fixing our porch, plumbing issues, etc. Basically, all of the dirty work to get the house to be able to get us to move in the spring.
We moved in April, and had our sweet Nora Faith in May. We finished our biggest house project – our DIY kitchen makeover – the same week she was born!
Obviously – life with a 22 month old and a newborn is slightly crazy! We took a break on the house projects for a good month, and then hit the ground running. Or limping. Or whatever you call life with two little kids in a house that still needed a LOT of work. All I know is we worked really really hard this year. I am so thankful for my hard-working husband and my family that had walked through this whole renovation with us. There’s no way we could have done this without my family!!
Here’s the best of the best for Christina’s Adventures in 2015:
1. DIY farmhouse kitchen makeover:
The first room to get fully finished in our new house –just a few days before we had Nora! This room was one of the worst in the house, and now it’s definitely my favorite room. See pictures of how we do life in this kitchen here.
Let’s not forget how far this room has come:
This room used to have a terrible red ceiling and broken windows. Now it’s finally a place to truly relax and retreat!
Our sweet baby girl got a real nursery when she was two months old – we combined vintage pieces, rustic touches, and lots of neutral colors with some pale pink thrown in. I LOVE this room!
As someone who works from home, my office is a super important part of my house. I used the wall space to better organize this room, and I love how the built-in bookshelves came out on the other side of this room too!
This is the smallest room in the house and one of the biggest transformations. It used to have a rotten floor and pink laminate walls. It was BAD. Look at how this view has transformed this year:
6. Vintage Sports Boy’s Bedroom
I’m not quite sure how he’s old enough to have a “big boy room”, but I LOVE his new bedroom! We added vintage sports touches- and my favorite part – the deep navy with the board & batten wall treatment. LOVE this room!
Whew – there’s all of our room makeovers for the year. Now is the truly fun part – living with these rooms and adding in our layers. This year has been about getting their “bones” ready, and now we get to live in it, and truly make them ours. It’s already so much fun!
Other popular posts this year – by far my most favorite post is about how to choose neutral paint colors for your home:
My post about removing wallpaper from plaster walls was another favorite this year:
